About SafeTennis

A safer future, built into the game.

SafeTennis is a 36-month Erasmus+ Sport cooperation project helping European tennis organisations turn safeguarding principles into practical, repeatable systems.

Why this project exists.

Sport can help young people grow, belong and thrive. It also has a responsibility to prevent harm and respond well when concerns arise. That responsibility reaches every level of tennis: from the court and club to national and international systems.

SafeTennis combines research, training, policy development and implementation support. Its focus is the capacity around young athletes aged 12–18, while recognising that parents, coaches, referees, volunteers, clubs, federations and researchers all shape the safeguarding environment.

The approved objectives

  1. Develop and implement a standardised safeguarding framework for tennis.
  2. Build practical safeguarding capacity through tailored training.
  3. Establish a confidential safeguarding case-management approach.
  4. Embed a sustainable, inclusive safeguarding culture.
  5. Create an ongoing monitoring and evaluation mechanism.
